Sandbank, salt marshes and lighthouse in Westerhever that is part of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park.
The salt marshes and the sandbank at Westerheversand represent very diverse habitats. Many waders such as the Myrsnipe, Tjeld, Rødstilk can be observed. On the sandbank, a particularly large number of gulls and other resting birds can be seen. Notable are the Lappspove, Sandlo, Hvitbrystlo, Splitterne, Dvergterne, Polarsnipe, Havørn and others.
The warft with lighthouse is a fixed point for migratory birds during migration, so that some songbirds can also be observed here.
Westerheversand is located at the western tip of the Eiderstedt peninsula. Press P on the map for directions to a parking. The area is part of the national park and can therefore only be reached on foot or by bike. The circular route shown on the map is about 7 km.
