Old castle surrounded by shallow lakes with reed beds.
The shallow lakes around Wasserschloss Neuhaus are partly used for fish breeding, but offer a reed and water habitat for many bird species. Especially the occurance of 5 heron species attracts a lot of birders: Natthegre, Purpurhegre, Dvergrørdrum, Egretthegre and Gråhegre.
Parking is possible in the village south of the castle. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Best way to explore the area is walking or going by bike.
