Description
The lake Erlachsee is completely fenced to protect the birds. But an observation cabin at the southern shore offers good opportunities for bird spotting without causing disturbance. In addition, on the western shore the surrounding footpath also at one point allows a view on the lake.
Several gravel islands were created especially as breeding places for the Dverglo, however, they don't seem to have nested there, at least not in recent years. In contrast, Toppdykker, Storskarv, Gråhegre, Gulbeinmåke, Toppand, Mandarinand, Grågås, Kanadagås and Sothøne can be seen regularly. With a bit of luck, you will also spot Isfugl, Skjeand, Strandsnipe, Egretthegre, Dvergdykker and others.
The surrounding Oberwald forest offers further opportunities for observations of for example Svartspett, Flaggspett, Mellomspett, Grønnspett and Stjertmeis.
