Heathland and woodland area not far from the coastline of the North Sea. Great species richness that differs from the birds you can see at the coast.
The Bordelumer Heide with its many habitats ranging from spruce forests and little ponds to heathland, provides a home to different bird species. In the forest you can find birds such as Gråfluesnapper, Toppmeis and Trekryper. The ponds and the surrounding reed are habitats for Rørsanger, Grågås and Isfugl. Where the area is more open you can hear Trepiplerke sing in spring. Gjøk, Gulspurv, Brunsisik and Svartstrupe are also breeding in the heath areas. A Vandrefalk breeds near by in the radiotower. Sometimes Havørn are flying over the area to hunt at the coastline.
The nearest trainstation is located in Langenhorn. From there it is possible to walk but it is more convenient to take a bike. There are parkingplaces along the mainroad from where you can access the area by foot. Click on a P in the map for directions. The circular route on the map is about 5 km.
