The Altes Feld (Old Field) near Dainrode was the largest Hessian resting place for Vipe in the 1970s with daily maximums (resting population) of around 14,000. Up to 600 Heilo. Rare Boltit. Large numbers of raptors, sometimes over 50 Glente and 100 Musvåk. The Fjellvåk is an occasional migrant and winter guest. In the cold winter of 86/87 up to 20 individuals. Myrhauk, Sivhauk, Dvergfalk and Snøspurv regularly. Sometimes Trane rest, often thousands of them migrating. Maximum numbers: Sanglerke 10,000, Gråtrost 10,000, Rødvingetrost 6,000, Stær 200,000, Heipiplerke 2,000.

Access
Altes Feld located near the village of Dainrode. The area is crossed by the B 253 and is very easy to reach. Driving on dirt roads is forbidden, but is probably never checked.
