Mixed forest with many oak trees incl. a small gorge with a stream and tiny dam pond. Nearby Lake Hald and Stanghede Heath. Many forest birds. And Fossekall.
Forest birds as warblers, thrushes, tits, flycatchers, treecreepers and woodpeckers are more numerous here, and streambirds include kingfisher. Bird species: Isfugl, Svartspett, Kortklotrekryper and Stjertmeis (yearround); Fossekall(winter and early spring); and Vintererle and Bøksanger (spring and summer). More than 120 bird species registered in https://dofbasen.dk/
For a longer stroll take a walk north along the lake for more birding and culture heritage, or continue up beyond the gorge to check the heath area (Stanghede) for Tornskate and Buskskvett.
Bring a telescope only if you want to look far out on the lake.
A playground is nearby and up the road is a nature school.
Park by the restaurant Niels Bugge Kro, or by the Nature School to the north. Walk the area (the walking trail on the map is about 4 km). Some paths can be slippery in wet conditions.
