Description
The Slatina area is an important breeding site for many birds connected to reedbeds such as Dvergrørdrum (the only location of this species in Prague), Sumpsanger, Vannrikse, Trostesanger, Rørsanger, Sivhøne or Sivspurv. Also the Sivhauk is breeding here. On the pond itself breeds many pairs of Toppdykker, Sothøne, Stokkand and a few pairs of Taffeland and Toppand. In the linked rural areas breed Tornskate, Gresshoppesanger, Sørnattergal and many others. Nearby there is a breeding site of Sandsvale.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as Blåstrupe, Buskskvett, Svartstrupe, Svarthvit Fluesnapper, Knekkand and many other species of waterfowl, Enkeltbekkasin, Vipe and many, many more species.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch Stær murmuration. Also Låvesvale and Gulerle come here to spend a night.
During the weekend the location can be overcrowded by people such as fishermen or bikers so I recommend you to visit the location during weekdays. Please do not disturb birds in their breeding habitats and use just visible pathways!
