Paardeweide is one of the controlled flood areas (GOG) of the Sigma plan. A good place for birding and to see rare birds.
Paardeweide is a wetland that is flooded about once a year. You will find open water, reeds, and a mix of grasslands. The area attracts herons, waders and other water birds. Breeding birds are Avosett and Makrellterne. Furthermore you can often see Skjestork. From the dyke, the following rarities can be observed periodically: Rørdrum , Myrrikse , Sumprikse , Aftenfalk and Purpurhegre.
