RSPB The Oa is home to many important breeding and wintering birds, including Alpenkraai, Steenarend, Blauwe Kiekendief, Slechtvalk and occasionally Kwartelkoning. During the winter months the reserve is very important for wintering Kolgans and in particular, Frater. With The Oa reserve hosting likely the largest wintering flock in the UK. Steenarend is present throughout the year, soaring above the cliffs and moors.
