Pendeen Watch (sometimes called Pendeen Lighthouse), is the last major headland in North West Cornwall before the coast heads South towards Lands End and the South Cornwall Coast. The area is primarily a seawatching site and birds passing St Ives Island approx 12 miles to the East, often pass Pendeen within an hour. As with most seawatching sites you need to check weather forecast, winds from the West or North West often prove to be best. Grote Pijlstormvogel, Grauwe Pijlstormvogel can be expected, with West Cornwall speciality Kuhls Pijlstormvogel.

From the A30 in Penzance, head North Westward on the A3071 towards St Just, after passing through the village of Newbridge take a Right turn onto the B3318. Continue on this road signed to the villages of Pendeen/Bojewyan. At next crossroads continue straight on into Calartha Road, this road heading North West takes you to Pendeen Watch car park (there is approx 12 car spaces in car park), but roadside parking is possible leading up to this. If heading from St Ives, take B3306 Westwards towards joint villages of Pendeen/Bojewyan and turn right into Calartha Road to Pendeen Watch.

After parking in car park (behind lighthouse), walk to the Right on curving road towards lighthouse gate, the wire fence on the Right has a small gate at the end, go through this gate and set up scope alongside lighthouse wall (hopefully giving shelter), in the right conditions most birds will pass between you and the offshore reefs.
