Beschrijving

From the causeway that divides the large southern section of the reservoir from the small northern section, it is possible to view large parts of the water body. There is nearly always a good variety of birds associating with the water. And the surrounding farmland and woodland holds many birds. Raptors are often observed. In the winter you can see many finches and buntings including, often, Keep , Geelgors , Sijs and Rietgors.

Toegang

You can reach the causeway by private means - there is no nearby public transport. It is very popular with cyclists (who can be a bit of a disturbance occasionally). There is plenty of room to park along the causeway although care should be taken as it is not very wide.

Extra info

The water company does not manage the reserve for nature but the northern end is a nature reserve. It is not managed significantly since the Kent Wildlife Trust abandoned it. But some local enthusiasts do a certain amount of maintenance and keep the bird feeders topped up in the winter.
