In Svälte Kile there are different habitats for the birds to thrive in such as forest, grasslands, lake, marsh and reed beds. The bird tower is reached via a path that runs through a swampy mixed forest dominated by alder. Due to its location, observations made from the tower is best in the afternoons or evenings when you get the best light, but the birding is good all day.

The bird tower of Svälte Kile is located 7 km west of Torp shopping centre, follow road 161. It is close to Rotviksbro and you can walk from the Mataffären's parking lot at the edge of the alder forest or from the prepared gravel parking lot opposite the entrance of the path.
