Plans de Sió is a large steppe-type area, dominated by single-crop cereal farming, located in the Segarra region. It is a dry landscape with some shrubs or scrub. Steppe bird species, such as Grauwe Kiekendief, Kleine Trap and Griel breed in the area, but can be hard to find. The more common birds include Rode Patrijs, Vale Gier, Slangenarend, Dwergarend, Rode Wouw, Hop, Iberische Klapekster, Kalanderleeuwerik, Torenvalk and Grauwe Gors. Sometimes Spaanse Keizerarend is observed.
