Beschrijving

La Zarza is a beautiful ravine full with dense laurel forests, fern covered undergrowth and steep rockwalls and caves. The area was home to the original inhabitants of La Palma, called the Benahoares. They left several circular markings on the steep rockwalls and lived in the surrounding caves. The area is, due to its dense forests, a beautiful area for birds and home to a great variety of species.

Both endemic pigeons can be seen: Bolles Laurierduif and Laurierduif. Many small songbirds are mostly present in combined flocks, consisting of Vink, Tenerifepimpelmees, Canarische Tjiftjaf and Goudhaan. Sometimes a Sperwer might show itself.

Above the forests, small flocks of Madeiragierzwaluw can be seen.
