Alternating between rocky and sparse, dense and lush, this quiet country road gives an excellent view of all the shapes and forms the dehesas of Extremadura can take, and the wide range of birds that call them their home. This is a great place for close views of Hop, Blauwe Ekster, Wielewaal, Roodkopklauwier, Bijeneter, Rotsmus, Zomertortel,Slangenarend, Dwergarend, Iberische Klapekster, Tapuit Spaanse Mus, and is one of the best places to find and observe the beautiful and strange Kuifkoekoek. Interestingly, an uncanny amount of Raaf call the first, more open stretches of road north of Santa Cruz de la Sierra home. Almost all the birds that call this stretch of dehesa and more open habitat their home are very shy, and shoot away at the sight of humans. It is advised to stay in the car. That way, you can observe the birds and wildlife going about their natural ways. It is possible to park the car and walk along some dirt tracks along the main road. Make sure to respect private land boundaries.

The road can be entered two ways. One is from the town of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Take the CC-24.1 leaving the village on the north-side. Take the left option once the road forks, head north.
The other way is coming from Trujillo on the ex-208 in the direction of Herguijuela. Take a right, where there's an option to go left to the village of Madroñera. Follow the road in the opposite direction.

Although the road is mostly used by locals, and then not frequently, some locals tend drive down it at speed. If you stop to look for birds, take care to stop on a safe stretch of road. Stay out of bends and don't stop on, or just after small hills.
