Tourist resort with a large artificial "forest" and coastal sites.
The forest in Costa Calma is attractive to migrants and wintering birds. Among them are also rarities. During migration numerous passerines can hide in the forest, although they can be a bit more difficult to find as they can disperse over more trees than at other sites on Fuerteventura. However, the forest is a good place to spend the hot time of the day. Passerines may sit in every hotel garden as well but it may be a bit unconfortable to walk around all the tourists with binoculars. But these gardens are a good place to see the introduced Roodbuikbuulbuul. Further species are the introduced Monniksparkiet and Halsbandparkiet. The coast holds some waders. However, they vanish in the morning when tourist aggregate at the beach. They then concentrate in the rocky areas in the northwest but during the day they are also often disturbed there so they disappear there too.
Costa Calma is located on the narrow strip of land in the south of the island of Fuerteventura. Finding a parking spot is easy in Costa Calma.
