The Pool of Albore, next to Sotonera Reservoir, is where thousands of Kraanvogel, spend some time at the end of winter, in February and March. An average of 5,000 and a maximum of 30,000 birds are observed daily. The Alboré pool is a strategic swamp area to rest and recharge before crossing the Pyrenees on their trek to Northern Europe. The village of Montmesa has an exhibition centre about birds that you can visit. La Alberca has become the main resting area for Kraanvogel in recent years.
