Ilha de Tavira is a long, sandy barrier island just off the coast of Tavira. A beautiful area where species such as Flamingo, Lepelaar, and Steltkluut can be frequently seen. The region is particularly rich in birdlife, especially during migration periods and in winter. As an integral part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, this protected area offers refuge and food to various bird species, with the combination of habitats such as salt marshes and swamps contributing to the high local biodiversity.
