Campus Jardim Botânico Universidade-de-Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) is one of the largest botanical gardens in Europe. It spans approximately 120 hectares, with 30 hectares dedicated to agricultural research. The garden is an easy access area where many birds can be spotted. It's one of the best places for birdwatching within the city perimeter. Free access and well paved roads.

The Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) is located directly south of the town of Vila Real. UTAD has many parking spaces. Just exit to Vila Real when circulating in A4 and follow the university signs. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking spot. The circular route shown on the map is about 3,5 km.
