Beirã is a small village located in the Serra de São Mamede. The village is surrounded by rolling hills, rocky formations, open fields, meadows and lots of trees. You can explore the area by the many small roads. Birds you can encounter in the area include Bijeneter, Hop, Groene Specht, Roodborsttapuit, Groenling, Vale Gier, Slangenarend, Rode Wouw, Grote Lijster, Kuifleeuwerik, Iberische Klapekster, Roodkopklauwier, Grauwe Gors, Cirlgors, Grijze Gors, Kleine Zwartkop, Rotsmus, Blauwe Rotslijster, Kleine Bonte Specht and Blauwe Ekster.

The village of Beirã is located 11 km north of the town of Marvão, and close to the border with Spain. Press P on the map for directions to the village. You can explore the area on foot or by car. On the map you see a 7 km circular walk, but this is just a suggestion, as there are many other paths and roads you can explore. If you want to take photos it is best to take photos from your car, as the birds are extremely shy.

I encountered max 3 cars in every 1.5 hour drive. In the early morning and afternoon it is just enjoying everything.
