Beschrijving

Birdingtrail along a stony beach on the shore of the Bay of Rīga near Kaltene. You will see small inlets and capes and a rocky or overgrown shore. At the end of the trail (1 km) there is a bird-watching tower. During spring and autumn migration this is a great place for birding.

The Kaltene coastal formations are protected and a geological and geomorphological nature monument. The nature trail along the coast opens up beautiful views to the landscapes characteristic to the Riga Gulf shore and Kaltene sea coast strewn with boulders. During spring and autumn bird migration there are many Anseriformes and Charadriiformes present here. Nice birds that are seen here are IJseend, Grauwe Franjepoot, Zeearend, Roodkeelduiker, Roodhalsfuut en Zilverplevier.
