Spring and autumn are best for this oasis. Passerines include Blonde Tapuit, Roodkopklauwier, Witoorbuulbuul, Kuifleeuwerik, Kleine Zwartkop, Oostelijke Orpheusgrasmus and Brilgrasmus. Wetland birds include 3 species of egret, Porseleinhoen, Klein Waterhoen, Kwartelkoning, Kwak, Purperreiger and Ralreiger, Zwarte Ooievaar and Ooievaar. In the surrounding desert there may be Kwartel, Griel, Vale Gier, Steppekiekendief, Havikarend, Sinaïroodmus, Palestijnse Bosuil and Tristrams Spreeuw. There is a raised walkway, hides and a cycle track.

By road the site is 70 miles east of Amman, where day tours, car hire and taxi hire are available. Advice is to carry plenty of water and avoid midday heat. The cycle route is 12 km and the raised walkway 3/4 of a km.
