Beschrijving

Vestmannaeyjar (or Westman Islands) is an archipelago off the south coast of Iceland. The Westman Islands are home to approximately 2.5 million breeding pairs of seabirds. Among these, nearly half are Papegaaiduiker. More than 30 other species of birds nest in the cliffs and grassy ledges. The largest island, Heimaey, is a great place for watching seabirds and easy accessible, also by car. From the parking lot you can walk to the cliffs with breeding birds such as Zeekoet, Jan-van-gent, Papegaaiduiker, Drieteenmeeuw and Noordse Stormvogel and look out over the sea. Also a chance of orca, seals and various other birds such as Eider, Grote Burgemeester, Scholekster, Zwarte Zeekoet, Regenwulp, Bontbekplevier, Witte Kwikstaart and Graspieper.
