Beschrijving
The raptor watchpoint near Kalloni provides a great view over the valley southwards that mainly raptors and storks tend to follow northwards during their spring migration. You need to have a bit of luck, but if you're there during a peak migration event, hundreds and hundreds of raptors and storks can be observed. Common species that can be seen are harriers, like Grauwe Kiekendief and even Steppekiekendief, storks, like Zwarte Ooievaar and Ooievaar, Arendbuizerd, Steppebuizerd, Slangenarend, Wespendief, Balkansperwer, Havik, Boomvalk, Roodpootvalk, Eleonora's Valk, Kleine Torenvalk and Slechtvalk. Scarcer species can sometimes be seen within flocks of other raptors, like Schreeuwarend, Havikarend, Dwergarend and Keizerarend.
The area surrounding the viewpoint is also good for typical inland species, like Blauwe Rotslijster, Blonde Tapuit and Bruinkeelortolaan.
