The road between Mavria and Platania is a great road to stop and drive along, and to observe many local breeding species, like Griekse Spotvogel, Oostelijke Orpheusgrasmus and Baardgrasmus. The small houses and farms a worth a check for Steenuil, and the scattered trees are perfect for Boomleeuwerik. The scrubs and bushes are great for many species of shrike, like Roodkopklauwier and Maskerklauwier. The rocky outcrops are great for Rotsklever and Bruinkeelortolaan.
During migration, the area is worth to check for species like Scharrelaar, Bijeneter and Wielewaal. Raptors are always present, and tend to hang around the hill tops, like Arendbuizerd.

There's a road present, which you can stop and drive along between Platania and Mavria. Park your car carefully along the road, and check the area with binoculars.
