The landscape of Wildes Moor has extensive moor and grassland areas. In the course of the last 35 years, around 200 hectares of the original moorland have been renatured. From a viewing hill you have a wide view over the almost tree-free area. The wild moor is one of the raised bogs. Birds find a varied home in the Wildes Moor. Among the 54 breeding birds are numerous species typical of bog, such as Grauwe Gans, Wintertaling, Kraanvogel, Waterral, Watersnip, Tureluur, Paapje, Roodborsttapuit and Blauwborst. During migration Wilde Zwaan, Kolgans and Brandgans as well as Kraanvogel and numerous waders appear.
