Beschrijving
The Weingartener Moor is an interesting place to visit and can host a good variety of bird species. The varying levels of water throughout the year adds a certain dynamic and an element of surprise. When there are open areas of water, there are good numbers of geese and ducks present. Grauwe Gans, Grote Canadese Gans, Wilde Eend, Krakeend, Tafeleend, Kuifeend, Wintertaling, Meerkoet and Dodaars are all regularly seen here.
Receding water levels and muddy fringes can attract birds such as Watersnip and Witgat. In August 2023, a juvenile Steenloper was even observed here! The surrounding woodland is home to a good number of species and is a good place to look for Grote Lijster, Middelste Bonte Specht and Kleine Bonte Specht. If you are lucky, you may see a Boomvalk hunting dragonflies in summer.
