The Schutzgebiet Plauel - Rodenbach area has a very rural beauty due to the renaturation since 2006. It has diverse habitats and good viewing points. Among the birds you can see are Roodborsttapuit, Patrijs, Witgat, Rode Wouw, Veldleeuwerik and Rietgors.

The area is not far away from either Sterzhausen, Goßfelden and Wetter. Each of these villages has a train station, therefore it is easy to explore with a bike or on foot. Also it is accessible by car. There is no designated parking area, but due to the rural location it is possible to leave your car next to the road.

Unfortunately the birdingplace is in close proximity to a busy road. It is protected by soundbarriers but the road is still audible. The area is grazed by sheep.
