Beschrijving
The Salmenwiesen meadows are easily accessible and offer a good mix of birds all year round, especially at times when there is water on the meadows and in the ditches. When the meadows are flooded, a good number of birds use the meadows as a place to feed and rest. Grauwe Gans, Grote Canadese Gans, Blauwe Reiger, Waterhoen, Wilde Eend and Zwarte Kraai are nearly always present. At times they are joined by Ooievaar, Casarca and Wintertaling.
During spring migration it is possible to see pairs or small groups of Roodborsttapuit and Gele Kwikstaart. If you are lucky, you may see Watersnip , Sprinkhaanzanger or even a rarity such as a Koereiger! During spring and summer there is a good chance of observing Grasmus, Grauwe Klauwier and Boerenzwaluw. Birds of prey can also frequently be observed soaring over the meadows.
In winter, Graspieper and Witte Kwikstaart are usually present and can be heard and seen foraging on the meadows and in the reeds.
