The Norddorfer Marsch is bordered by dunes in the west and an overgrown and overblown dike– and in the east bordered by an asphalt dike, which was built after the great hurricane flood in 1962. This wetland is a paradise for water birds with ponds and water ditches – although it is barely a square kilometer. During autumnal migration there are several hundred Smient staying here. By mid-December at the latest, they will move across the North Sea to Holland. Rotgans populate the marsh in their thousands in the spring. Of course also other geese like Grauwe Gans and Brandgans can be seen here. Also birds like Bergeend, Scholekster, Strandplevier, Wulp, Rosse Grutto, Kanoet, Bonte Strandloper and Tureluur can be seen.

From the asphalt dike all birds can be spotted well. You can make a circular walk of 5 km around the wetland. Click on the P in the map to get directions to the parking. From there you can explore the area on foot.
