In the middle of the Berlin suburbs, the Königsheide is a refuge for animals of all kinds. The forest consists predominantly of a sparse stand of oaks, but also of pines or a mixture of both species. Typical forest birds can be found here (Grote Bonte Specht , Middelste Bonte Specht, Zanglijster, Boomklever, Goudhaan). A large sandy dry grassland further enriches the area.
