Beschrijving
In winter, the Hurstsee is home to a great number and variety of ducks and other waterbirds. There are good numbers (between 15 and 100+) of Wilde Eend, Krakeend, Kuifeend, Tafeleend, Meerkoet and Aalscholver.
Smaller groups of Wintertaling and Fuut can usually be seen scattered across the lake. Nijlgans and Knobbelzwaan are often present, as well as Grote Zilverreiger, Blauwe Reiger, IJsvogel and Grote Gele Kwikstaart along the fringes of the lake.
With a bit of luck, you can also see Grote Zaagbek, Smient, Pijlstaart, Zomertaling (on spring migration) or even a stunning Nonnetje here!
Waterbirds are the main attraction, but the trees and bushes around the lake are worth checking too. There are plenty of common woodland / garden birds, plus a good chance of seeing (or hearing) any of the following: Sijs, Appelvink, Goudvink, Heggenmus, Vuurgoudhaan, Koperwiek and Zwarte Specht.
