Located in the middle of Dresden, the Große Garten offers both recreation and birding. Having grass patches that are no longer mowed every week surrounded by large old trees, this park offers a variety of habitats for birds.
Bird species that you can find there include Bosuil , several waterfowl such as Grauwe Gans , Mandarijneend , Wilde Eend , Nijlgans , Waterhoen and Meerkoet , and also IJsvogel , Gierzwaluw , Grauwe Vliegenvanger , Vink , Tjiftjaf , Goudvink , Grote Bonte Specht , Groene Specht and many more.

The Große Garten is located about 1.2 kilometers east of Dresden city center. There are parking opportunities on the Northern as well as the Southern side of the Große Garten within side streets. But it is best to come to the Große Garten by foot, bike or public transport.
