Freiburg is a city worth a visit and the Rieselfeld is close enough to be compatible with a visit to the town. In the wet areas, you can find wetland-loving birds such as ducks, Watersnip, Bosruiter, Grote Zilverreiger, Waterral, Kievit and Blauwe Reiger. Other birds you can see in the surrounding area are Draaihals, Koekoek, Klapekster, Rode Wouw, Zwarte Wouw, Veldleeuwerik, Grauwe Klauwier, Roodborsttapuit and Grasmus. In the forest areas that are adjacent to the nature reserve breed Kleine Bonte Specht, Middelste Bonte Specht, Zwarte Specht, Wielewaal and Boomklever.

It's a 5 minute walk from tram-station Bollerstaudenstraße (line 5) or bus stop Mundenhof (line 19). Also near these stations there is anough space for car-parking.
