The Altes Feld (Old Field) near Dainrode was the largest Hessian resting place for Kievit in the 1970s with daily maximums (resting population) of around 14,000. Up to 600 Goudplevier. Rare Morinelplevier. Large numbers of raptors, sometimes over 50 Rode Wouw and 100 Buizerd. The Ruigpootbuizerd is an occasional migrant and winter guest. In the cold winter of 86/87 up to 20 individuals. Blauwe Kiekendief, Bruine Kiekendief, Smelleken and Sneeuwgors regularly. Sometimes Kraanvogel rest, often thousands of them migrating. Maximum numbers: Veldleeuwerik 10,000, Kramsvogel 10,000, Koperwiek 6,000, Spreeuw 200,000, Graspieper 2,000.

Altes Feld located near the village of Dainrode. The area is crossed by the B 253 and is very easy to reach. Driving on dirt roads is forbidden, but is probably never checked.
