Alte Elbe is an old arm of the river Elbe near the town of Gerwisch. Good chances to see Zeearend, Visarend and Kraanvogel. Many waterbirds, especially during migration time (e.g., Grote Zilverreiger, Blauwe Reiger, Grauwe Gans, Taigarietgans, Slobeend, Wintertaling, Zomertaling, Wilde Zwaan, Nonnetje, Grote Zaagbek, Fuut, Dodaars, Kievit, Groenpootruiter, Zwarte Ruiter, Kemphaan). In the adjacent areas Rode Wouw, Zwarte Wouw, Torenvalk, Zwarte Specht, Draaihals, and very occasionally Bijeneter or Hop can be seen.

The Alte Elbe is located near the towns of Gerwisch and Biederitz. From the towns you can access the area via field paths on foot or bicycle. Click on a P in the map for directions to a parking place.
