Kaivopuisto is one of the oldest and best known parks in central Helsinki. The park is a mix of old trees and large grasslands/lawns. To the south, Kaivopuisto borders the Gulf of Finland. The park is a good place for migration bird count during the spring and autumn. Among the birds you can observe are Brandgans, Kneu, Tapuit, Gele Kwikstaart and Reuzenstern. In good visibility Zwarte Zeekoet can be seen on Gråhara Island (sea lighthouse).
