Tommy Thompson Park is a prime birding spot due to its diverse habitats, including forests, meadows, marshes, and shoreline along Lake Ontario. The park’s naturalized landscape attracts over 300 bird species throughout the year.

Spring & Fall: Witness spectacular migrations of warblers, sparrows, and raptors like the Peregrine Falcon. Summer: Breeding birds such as Black-crowned Night Heron, Common Tern and Baltimore Oriole are common. Winter: Spot Snowy Owl, Long-tailed Duck, and various wintering waterfowl.

With its peaceful setting, scenic views, and rich biodiversity, Tommy Thompson Park is a must-visit for nature lovers and birders alike.

Tommy Thompson Park is located on the Leslie Street Spit in Toronto, at 1 Leslie St. It is accessible by car, bike, or public transit. Free parking is available at the entrance near Leslie St. & Unwin Ave. Press P on the map for directions. Public Transit: Take the TTC Line 2 to Donlands or Pape Station, then bus 83 or 72 to Leslie & Commissioners. Walk or bike south to the park entrance.

The park is best explored on foot or by bike, as no cars are allowed inside. Plan for at least 2–4 hours to fully enjoy the trails, wildlife, and scenic views.
