The Iskar Gorge near Lakatnik is a pictoresque place and good for some interesting birds as Alpengierzwaluw, Slechtvalk, Arendbuizerd and rock-nesting Zwarte Ooievaar. Other birds of interest are Waterspreeuw, which inhabits the stream next to the small road caffee, Rotszwaluw, Roodstuitzwaluw, Zwarte Roodstaart and other.

Following Road 16 from Sofia to Vratsa you will reach a small road caffee against the village of Lakatnik. This is the place to park and walk around and watch birds. You can move with the car on the roads in the area and explore additional sites as shown on the map.
