In the winter period, this area is a popular resting place for large numbers of ducks. Blauwe Kiekendief is also on the job every year, just like the noisy Cetti's Zanger. In the spring it is on the puddles near the river Ijzer a coming and going of passing waders. For species such as Wulp, Watersnip , Grutto , Kievit , Tureluur , Bosruiter , Witgat it is an important stopover on the way to the northern breeding areas. Other notable spring guests are Lepelaar , Kleine Zilverreiger and Grote Zilverreiger. In the varied area, birds such as Blauwborst and Kluut breed.
