Around the castle stretches a beautiful cultural landscape with different habitats for plants and animals. Vast nature reserves such as the Winge Valley, the Troostemberg forest and the Walenbos are close to Horst. Birds such as Grote Bonte Specht, Buizerd, Boomkruiper and Boomklever find a breeding ground in these forests. The cultural landscape around the castle attracts Grasmus, Braamsluiper.

Kasteeldomein van Horst is located northeast of Leuven, near the village of Sint-Pieters-Rode. The place can be reached by the De Lijn bus from Leuven. There is a big parking lot in front of the castle. Press P on the map for directions to the parking lot. The circular route shown on the map is about 5 km.
