Beschrijving
The Handzame Broeken area consists of a extensive agricultural area, being mainly pastures, with scattered trees, bushes and willow tree lanes. The Kreekebeek river flows through the area and is a great spot for waterfowl, like Wintertaling, Smient and Slobeend. The surrounding pastures are good for flocks of Kievit. In winter, these pastures are part of the hunting grounds for Blauwe Kiekendief. In winter, area is also good for Wilde Zwaan.
The scattered (willow) trees are great for observing Steenuil and Holenduif. The scattered bushes and fences are a great spot for breeding species, like Roodborsttapuit and Paapje.
