Alfred Cove is a quiet spot on the Swan River with mudflats, seagrass beds and intertidal vegetation. These are rich foraging areas for numerous birds. The most important of these, are the migratory wading birds. More than 140 different species of birds have been recorded in Alfred Cove.

Beautiful light in the morning, and great for photography. Among the birds you can observe are Australian Fairy Tern, Caspian Tern, Black Swan, Pied Oystercatcher, Common Greenshank, Common Sandpiper, Australian Shelduck, Buff-banded Rail, Australasian Swamphen, Black-bellied Plover and Pied Stilt.
