Description

The reservoir is shallow, having only a maximum depth of 9m (30’), which makes it very attractive to both dabbling and diving ducks. It occasionally attracts less common wildfowl, such as голем северен нуркач and Common Scoter and црвеноврат нуркач, црноврат нуркач and ушест нуркач. Waders are often present in spring and autumn, including бојник, шарена тринга, обична бекасина, црвенонога тринга, остригар and мал пескар. Scaling Dam can also be an excellent place to watch raptors and, from the hide, an eye should always be kept on the moorland plateau and valleys for Полска еја, блатна еја, мал сокол and сив сокол and, if you are extremely lucky, црвена луња or гаќест глувчар. The site is also good for summer visitors, such as кукавица, обично ливадарче and брезов свиркач, and residents like планинско ливадарче, планинска тресиопашка and полско врапче.

There is a hide for birdwatching where you might see калуѓерка, дива гуска, Canada Goose, жолтоклун лебед and many wading birds.
