The Reedbed Nature Reserve at Watermead Country Park is another great nature reserve to birdwatch in Leicestershire, with wildlife all surrounding you.
Tucked away in Leicestershire, the Reedbed Nature Reserve at Watermead Country Park consists of four hides, one of which looks over the fabulous Wanlip Meadows. In winter, барска кокошка and with a little bit of luck голем воден бик can be seen stalking in the extensive reedbeds there. Брезова чинка, various Tits and елова зелентарка will visit the feeders from the Kingfisher Hide. рибарче can also be viewed from most of the hides.
Spring announces the arrival of waders and the marshier area of the River Soar, viewed from the Plover Hide is great for обична бекасина and црвенонога тринга. Other waders such as обичен свиркач, голем српоклун свиркач and остригар can also be seen around the reserve. речна чигра, брегова ластовичка, градска ластовичка, селска ластовичка and обична пиштарка all fly around the reserve in spring and summer, with the брегова ластовичка nesting in the bank for them. Autumn is quite an interesting month for migration for more waders such as зеленонога тринга, шарена тринга, речна тринга, сабјарка and мал пескар can be viewed from around the reserve.
Park at either the Fingers Lake car park at Watermead or the Reedbed car park and access the four gates to the Reedbed Nature Reserve from there.
