It is a breeding place for сива чапја that can be observed from the path, and a habitat for waterfowl and for birds living in extensively used meadows. It is also a spawning ground for numerous amphibian species. Bird species that can be observed here include сива чапја, мал трскар, полско врапче, лисесто циганче , црна лиска, Дива патка, градска ластовичка, селска ластовичка, обична пиштарка, јастреб врапчар, Обична (Црнонокна) ветрушка, глувчар, елова зелентарка, голем клукајдрвец, сина сипка, дологоопашеста сипка, Голема сипка, црвеногушка, обична ѕвингалка, ќос, обичен сколовранец, Црна врана, Mandarin Duck, голем северен нуркач, гугутка, гулаб гурмиш, and штрк.

Access
There is a public car park next to the lake. However, travelling by bus number 912 from Zürich Bellevue or bus number 919 from the Küsnacht train station (both to the bus station Itschnach-Tägermoos) is recommended. You can also reach Schübelweiher on different walkways leading there from Küsnacht train station in ca. 40 minutes.
