This area is a convenient place to sample an altitudinal cross-section of many Swiss bird species.
Caux is a small village. It is a good centre to explore up and down the mountain as there are good footpaths and also a fernicular railway that starts in Montreux and goes up to the top of the Rochers de Naye (c2,000m above sea level). You have a good chance of жолтоклуна галка and карпест дрозд at the summit. In the woods there is a good variety of birds including црн клукајдрвец, планинска сипка and црвеноглаво кралче. обично страче and дебелоклун црешар can be seen.
Start at Montreux (direct line from Lausanne and Geneva). Change trains onto the small blue train that goes to the Rochers de Naye. One strategy is to take the train to the top and walk down. In winter, there will be a lot of snow and this may not be practicable. But there will not be so many birds in the middle of winter - although some birds such as карполазач may be found at lower altitudes.
I have visited the area many times but local people may be able to give more detailed information.
