Sandarviken is a shallow bay north of Faludden. The surroundings consist of large costal meadows, with bushy areas and more forested areas, and a lagoon.

Description

At Sandarviken 223 bird species have been recorded. 35 species of wading birds have been recorded.

Sandarviken holds thousands of wintering морски кожувар but белокрила црнка, Common Scoter, Common Eider and diving ducks also winter in smaller numbers. Other waterfowl like патка свиркач, патка лажичарка патка берија, гусковидна патка and сива патка also winter in the area. Sandarviken holds wintering цуцулест нуркач, црвеноврат нуркач, and ушест нуркач.Barnacle Goose also winter as do a few wading birds in winter. мала бекасина is sometimes found. Wintering birds of prey are often found in the area. Some of the common ones are Полска еја, глувчар, белоопашест орел, and златен орел.

During migration period the bay often holds large amounts of waders. Most numerous is the обичен свиркач which sometimes number in the thousands. црноопашна блатарка, обична бекасина, остригар, голем српоклун свиркач, црвенонога тринга, обичен свиркач, сабјарка, and среден пескар all breed somewhat regularly. Other wading birds often found are:камењарче, сиво блатарче, Bar-tailed Godwit, бел свиркач, белоопашест свиркач, and мал свиркач. Rarer wading birds like блатен свиркач, Red-necked Phalarope, мала бекасина and голема бекасина are sometimes found. Many vagrant wading birds have also been found.

In the lagoon сива патка, патка лажичарка, патка крецка and many other dabbling ducks often Feed. мал морски нуркач and белец often rest at Sandarviken year round. Large amounts of geese use the coastal meadows as resting and feeding ground during their migration. Barnacle Goose and дива гуска can sometimes be found in the thousands. Pink-footed Goose and црвенограда гуска has been seen.
