The Afromontane mistbelt and scarp forest of Dlinza has an impressive birdlist and is very easy accessible as it contains an aerial boardwalk around the canopy.
South Africas forest birds are often sitting high in the canopy and it is sometimes hard to spot them. Therefore the aerial boardwalk makes it much easier to do so. Also the Dlinza forest is home to the Bronze-naped Pigeon, Spotted Ground-Thrush and the Buff-spotted Flufftail , which are maybe most easily seen in this particular forest.
The Dlinza Forest reserve is open from 6:00 to 18:00 throughout the year. Against a small entrance fee (50R per person) visitors can use the many self-guided trails on the ground of the forest as well as the boardwalk, that leads ulitmately to a 20m high viewing platform.
At your arrival, ask at the reception and the workers will place seeds and water in front of the bird hide. Then do your forest walk and on your return visit the bird hide for Lemon Dove, Tambourine Dove, Chorister Robin-Chat and others.
