Description

Stepin Gaj is a forested area located in the southern part of Belgrade. Dirt paths go through the forest, which makes a route you can hike and watch birds on, while admiring nature around you. There are stunning views of the surrounding hills and forests. It is a rarely visited area, because of the lack of attention from birders, and the size and relative untidiness of the forest, unlike Topčider Park, Zvezdara Forest, and Košutnjak forest.

There are many species of forest birds that you can see here, like црн клукајдрвец, Шумски (Обичен) був, краткопрст ползач, обичен ползач, зелен клукајдрвец, мал клукајдрвец and Обичен (Шумски) лазач. There are other common species, such as жолтоглаво кралче, црвеноглаво кралче, голем клукајдрвец, сина сипка, елова зелентарка, обична ѕвингалка and дебелоклун црешар. There is likely a шумска шљука population, but it isn't yet confirmed. Though there are multiple reports of the bird.
